How to Get Rid of Excess Belly Fat: No Cheating!

Getting rid of excess belly fat is easy - in theory. In reality, you're going to have to do your homework, change your patterns, and be consistent enough to carry your plans through to fruition.

Belly fat accumulates when our caloric intake is greater than our calories burned. However, overcoming this imbalance takes a focused plan, and the discipline and the willpower to succeed.

Although options like 'the wrap' are now available, if you are reading this article, you are mentally ready to take on the challenge of getting rid of your belly fat. Therefore, we will focus physically on three things: Diet, exercise, and long-term goals.

Diet: If you are eating junk food, drinking too many soft drinks (even diet soda), and eating food laced with preservatives, you need to reconsider your choices. Replace the soda with fruit juice. Replace the preservatives and additives with healthier foods. A general rule is, "the shorter the list of ingredients on a package, the easier time the body will have turning the food into energy." Most doctors recommend a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and a balance of meat. Too much red meat is not advised.

If you are truly obsessed with getting rid of belly fat, you will want to start counting your calories, setting a reasonable daily goal and adhering to the goal no matter what.

Exercise: At minimum, you should begin by walking 30 minutes a day. Sit-ups, crunches, and other abdominal exercises are recommended, but these alone will not get rid of your belly fat. What will get rid of your excess belly fat is a high-impact workout where your body burns more calories than it receives through food intake.

If you are concerned about not being physically able to do a high-impact workout, start with walking and stretching for a few weeks, and then call in a personal trainer to help tailor a workout to your specific needs. Having a predetermined time to work out is usually beneficial.

Long-term success: You didn't put on your pounds overnight, so don't expect to take them off overnight! Getting rid of belly fat is a process, and you will achieve your results in months, not days. If you can regulate your diet and get yourself doing low-impact workouts regularly in the first month, you can consider yourself ready to take the next step towards burning that excess belly fat. Good luck!
